Taking part in the NC’Nean Whiskey workshops gave me the chance to learn with others while exploring how sustainable whisky is made. Our group worked together to create a presentation about NC’Nean’s sustainable methods, such as using organic barley, renewable energy, and carbon-neutral distillation. Working as a team showed me both the positives and difficulties of group projects, and helped me grow personally and professionally.
A major challenge in our group was bringing together different viewpoints and ways of working. Some people liked having a clear plan and deadlines, while others wanted to be more flexible and creative. At first, this caused some confusion and slowed us down. We also had to work hard to balance our own tasks with the group’s goals, which meant we needed to talk things through and make compromises. For instance, we disagreed about which parts of NC’Nean’s sustainability efforts to focus on in our presentation. By listening to each other, finding middle ground, and dividing tasks based on our strengths, we managed to create a strong and balanced presentation.
Even with these challenges, working in a group helped me build important skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Working closely with others showed me how valuable empathy and flexibility are in a office environment. The workshop also gave me hands-on knowledge about sustainable whisky manufacturing, showing how innovation, caring for the environment, and traditional skills all connect. This experience helped me see how sustainability fits into business and why it matters in today’s industries.
Personally, this experience made me more confident working both with others and on my own. Talking and debating with my peers improved my communication and helped me see things from different points of view. Watching how NC’Nean makes whisky and taking part in tasting sessions made me appreciate the care, patience, and creativity needed in craft industries. Overall, the workshops showed me how important it is to mix theory with hands-on experience, and how facing challenges in group work can help you grow.
In summary, the NC’Nean Whiskey workshops helped me build both technical skills and people skills. Although working in a group was sometimes tough at first, these challenges made me better at working with others, solving problems, and adapting to new situations. The experience has had a lasting effect on my personal growth.
